Looking to the Future with Annie Cannon Garden & Glen Burney Trail

The Blowing Rock Village Foundation has supported the community for over 12 years. Working with local government, other non-profits, and residents, The Village Foundation has funded over a million dollars in grants for our beloved town! We are in early discussions with the Town to create a master plan for enhancing Annie Cannon Gardens, the Glen Burney Trail trailhead, and Legion Hill. 

We are excited about the positive impact these improvements will bring to our village:

 ● Audubon Garden for birds and butterflies 

● Mayview Lake overlook with a trellis and pavilion 

● Improvements to Annie Cannon Gardens that will provide a greenspace for yoga, programs, events, and games 

● Public restrooms 

● Trailhead entry and signage for the Glen Burney Trail to include historical information, maps, trail difficulty ratings, handicap accessibility, and safety considerations

 ● New covered bridge crossing New Years Creek

 ● Observation deck at the bottom of the falls 

This is a multi-year project divided into three phases. For 2024-2025 we are focusing on Annie Cannon Gardens, the new trailhead and first 1,000 feet of the Glen Burney Trail. Blowing Rock is truly a unique and special place.
